Volunteers help with our pet food distribution events through Keita’s Kitchen. We hold four of these events each month across four different days and locations. They are held in the evening and usually last three to four hours. Most volunteers split the time and help either with load out, prepping to go to the distribution site and getting the truck loaded with supplies, or with the actual distribution event at whichever site we are setting up at for that day. Splitting the time means that volunteers only spend one to two hours with us but are still able to help and make a big difference for our organization.
Throughout the year we host a variety of fundraising activities. Each fundraiser has it’s own set of needs that volunteers can help with.
Example – Our Pup Hunt happens just before Easter and we need volunteers to help “hide” eggs, supervise both hunt areas, process event registrations, prep our event room for the photographer to be able to set up, general cleaning of the facility the night before, etc.
If you would like to sign up to volunteer for a particular event please check our events page to see which events are coming up.
Periodically throughout the year we receive shipments of pet food and supplies to our headquarters. The shipments range from a few bags of food to multiple pallets at a time. The greatest need is for people to assist with unloading when shipments are pallets worth of food. Our facility is not equipped with a forklift or loading dock so all shipments must be hand unloaded and counted for inventory. Unfortunately the shipments are not on a set schedule so sometimes we have very short notice when one is coming up.
We would like to establish a network of individuals who would be willing to help with such tasks that could be contacted whenever dates are available.
From time to time we have special projects happening that need a little extra help like skilled labor or group projects.
One example of this would be that we need some extra help putting together some donation drop bins at our headquarters and are hoping to work with a local Scout Troop to bring this project to completion.
Some projects we prefer not to discuss while they are still in the planning phases but for projects we have in development now we could use volunteers with the skills listed below.
⇒ Woodworking / Construction
⇒ Fencing
⇒ Country/redneck ingenuity 🙂
If you have any of the listed skills and would be interested in learning more to try and help us with a special project please contact us.
